Taking it to the White House: Just Label It
Last month, the 525 + partners of the Just Label It Campaign submitted a record-breaking 1.1 million comments to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in favor of labeling genetically engineered foods. To date, the FDA has told us: “We haven’t made a decision yet.”
Now we’re taking this campaign to the next level and asking President Obama to weigh in. Using the White House’s online petition tool, “We the People,” we’re launching a new petition directed squarely at the Obama Administration. If we get 25,000 signatures in the next 30 days, the petition will be reviewed by White House policy experts who will issue an official response.
We already know our voices are being heard on Capitol Hill, but while FDA is still deciding, we’re not letting the pressure up and nor should you.
Please join us in asking President Obama to listen to the American public and speak out in favor of the mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods. Sign on, sign in, and sign up for better transparency in our food system.
And after you sign, please share the petition with your friends and family on social media by clicking on the Facebook and Twitter links on the petition page. Together, our voices will be heard by our leaders in Washington.
